Christian Tegner appointed professor with special responsibilities (MSO)

Christian Tegner, Department of Geoscience, has been appointed professor with special responsibilities in Geology and Magmatic Petrology as of 1 January 2012. His research and lecturing concentrate on petrological and geochemical studies of volcanic systems, especially large volcanic provinces and their deep roots (layered mafic intrusions) – with particular focus on their incidence in Greenland and the High Arctic areas.

Professor Tegner works specifically on magma chambers and magmatic differentiation processes, the interaction between volcanism and plate tectonics, and processes in the deep Earth. He also seeks to develop new, interdisciplinary research initiatives concerned with analysing possible connections between volcanic activity and past global climate impact.
