Morten Kyng has been appointed professor of Pervasive Computing at the Department of Computer Science. In the last six years Morten has worked as a research professor and prior to that he headed the Danish National Center for IT Research for seven years. He has a longstanding track record of research in participatory design, computer supported cooperative work and human-computer interaction. In recognition of his work Morten was in 2001 appointed to the ACM CHI Academy for leadership in the field of computer-human interaction. Morten has created and managed a dozen national and international research projects including the ground braking Scandinavian project Utopia on participatory design and the Palcom project on architecture for pervasive computing. Palcom was a so-called Integrated Project in the European Unions 6th Framework Programme.
Currently Morten is head of the Centre for Pervasive Healthcare, www.pervasivehealthcare.dk, which recently received a grant of 37.5 million Danish kroner to develop new multi disciplinary, multi player research projects to promote health and business development.
Morten has published several articles and books, organized international conferences, served on university committees and governing bodies. In particular he is involved in the development of the IT City Katrinebjerg.
