This guide tells you how to apply for a PhD at Aarhus Graduate School of Science/AGSoS and what kind of information you must submit when applying. If you have any questions please contact AGSoS at the following e-mail-address: agsos@science.au.dk

When you start filling in the application, please be aware that you cannot save the application and continue working on it later. Therefore, you must have all relevant appendices, attachments, addresses for referees, etc. ready when you apply, as the entire application must be uploaded to the system in one go.
As a minimum you need to upload the following documents:
- one reference
- curriculum vitae,
- motivation (max. 1 page)
- transcripts and diploma(s)
- project description (½-4 pages)
You cannot submit the application if one or several of these documents have not been uploaded.
AGSoS has provided a template for the recommendation (in Word format), which you are welcome to send to your referee(s). It is not mandatory to use the template.

Personal:
Here you must fill in the necessary personal information
Academic background:
Here you must enter data on your academic background. You must choose the educational level that will be your basis for admission to the PhD studies: bachelor, master, or other. In Denmark, the total time of study at the university for a PhD degree is 8 years (480 ECTS) following the framework of the Bologna Process. Admission to the PhD studies at AGSoS is based on either
In both cases, a student may be admitted with credit transfer on top of admission level, based on an individual assessment
Under Education name you must write the academic title of your education. Example: BSc in Chemistry or MSc in Nanoscience.
Under Grade point average you must enter your unweighted grade average calculated and based on your transcripts' grading scale, BSc and MSc separately.
Admission:
Here you must choose your desired starting date. The starting date may be subject to change later, if all parties agree to it.
Under Credit transfer on top of admission level you must list how many months’ of credit transfer you think you are entitled to and the reason why. Example: If you have a bachelor’s degree and the first year of a master’s degree, you must write 12 months under Credit transfer on top of admission level, and under Reason for transfer you could write: “Already started on my master’s degree”, preferably with a starting date included.
Indicate possible financial support, if any:
If you bring any financial support with you, here you must write the name of the source and the amount that your source is able to pay. If possible, upload proof of support, e.g. from a grant donator.
Study:
Here you must write your project title, and suggested supervisors, if you have any. It is often a good idea to contact a potential supervisor prior to applying for a PhD study, however, it is not mandatory.
